In Chinese medicine and qigong, winter is when Mother Nature lies fallow. It is a time of year when energy is conserved rather than expended. It is a time of stillness, silence, reflection, and deep listening. With this ability to slow down and listen, we draw on an immense power that is soft yet strong, like water that carves canyons and wears down jagged rock into smooth, polished stone. When our water element is sufficiently supported and balanced, we can tap into this soft strength, as well as nurture our capacity for the wisdom that arises when we slow down, listen inwardly, and embrace the fluid, changing nature of all things.
In this workshop we will explore the qualities of water and its associated season of winter through qigong practices that support and strengthen our water organs of the kidneys and urinary bladder. A short talk will be followed by an active qigong forms and a breathing, meditation and visualisation practice to finish.
Open to all levels of practitioners.
Donations/Dana: This workshop is offered based on dana, which is a Buddhist word and teaching that means generosity. Dana works on the idea of reciprocity and mutual support. With my teachings, I will offer what I hope will best support, guide and nourish you in your practice. In exchange, you are invited to give an offering of dana that reflects the support, guidance and nourishment you feel you have received.
A suggested dana is £20-30, but please know that this is only a suggestion. If you are experiencing financial hardship, you are welcome to attend this workshop for less; likewise, if you have more financial means and the workshop has offered you something of value, you are welcome to offer more.
Dana can be given:
1) Via my website (preferred)
2) Via PayPal paypal.me/mimizoomclasses or
3) Using Venmo @Miranda-Kuo-Deemer
