Ascending Yin: A Metal Phase + Autumn Qigong Workshop
Saturday, October 16, 2021
16:00 - 18:30 BST
with Mimi Kuo-Deemer
online via Zoom
Autumn is a time for appreciation and nourishment of our spirits. Autumn is also the yin to spring's yang. If spring is nature's time for growth and expansion, autumn is its time to cut back and consolidate. As the days grow shorter and cooler, earth slows down and prepares to rest. For some people this is a relief, yet for others, the expansiveness of spring and summer come far more easily. Viewed through the lens of qigong and the Chinese Five Elements, however, each part of the seasonal turn is essential to maintaining harmony in nature.
In this workshop we will explore the qualities of metal and its associated season of autumn through qigong practices that support and strengthen our metal organs of the lungs and large intestine. A short talk will be followed by an active qigong forms and a breathing, meditation and visualisation practice to finish.
Open to all levels of practitioners.
Dana/Donations: This workshop is offered based on dana, which is a Buddhist word and teaching that means generosity. Dana works on the idea of reciprocity and mutual support. With my teachings, I will offer what I hope will best support, guide and nourish you in your practice. In exchange, you are invited to give an offering of dana that reflects the support, guidance and nourishment you feel you have received.
A suggested dana is £20-30, but please know that this is only a suggestion. If you are experiencing financial hardship, you are welcome to attend this workshop for less; likewise, if you have more financial means and the workshop has offered you something of value, you are welcome to offer more.
