Daoist Flow: A Daylong Immersion
Sunday, February 4, 2018
10:00 - 5:00 pm
triyoga, Camden
London
The willingness to be with the free flow of experience is at the heart of the Dao – and at the heart of the Buddha’s teachings on impermanence. Vinyasa flow yoga also curves our awareness toward this free flow of experience by inviting us to be with the unbroken and continuous movements of the body and breath.
This daylong immersion will explore the ways in which Daoist ideas from qigong and teachings on Buddhist mindfulness can compliment the way in which we practice vinyasa flow yoga. We will look at how approaches from Daoism such as naturalism, harmonious flow, wuwei (effortless effort), yi (intention), chen (sinking) as well as the Buddha’s teachings on the four foundations of Mindfulness (body, feelings, mind/emotions and dharma) can be integrated and embodied in our practice of yoga āsana (postures). Concepts introduced will be explored through highly experiential practices.
The immersion will include:
• An overview of Daoist and Buddhist practices that compliment with yoga āsana;
• Explorations of theory in practice through movement and experimentation; and
• Embodied philosophy: understanding the ways in which Daoist and Buddhist concepts can be understood viscerally and through direct experience.
Open to those with a minimum of 18 months of yoga experience.
