Norgye
Norgye, seventy-four years old, is one of the oldest living weaveres and
an important link to the history of Wangden carpet weaving. Wangden rugs
were traditionally woven by men only for use by monks in monasteries.
Weaving almost stopped in the 1980s, but Norgye and a few other older
weavers began to revive the tradition in the 1990s, and have trained a
new generation of weavers.
